A nuclear weapon

Nuclear weapons are so dangerous if there
were to be a nuclear war the world could be
destroyed


Nuclear Explosions are mainly known for the
cloud of radiation after the explosion
The explosion is huge but the cloud is so huge
and spreads so widely that it destroys nature
and living creatures



The first nuclear blast
was on July 16, 1945 in a
remote area in New
Mexico
The United States
dropped 2 Nuclear
bombs in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki Japan
Now Britain, China,
France, India, Pakistan,
Russia, united states,
North Korea and Israel
have nuclear weapons
In 1952 the United
States were bombed
by the Japanese
 The United states
reacted by dropping
Little boy and Fat man
 Two nuclear weapons



Nuclear weapons give off very high amounts
of radiation
This is why these weapons effect people in
long terms is because of the radiation
In Chernobyl people that were exposed to the
radiation had children born with horrible birth
defects
Japan went through the same process of
deformed babies

ATOMIC BOMBS




An atomic bomb is caused
by the splitting of a nucleus
of an atom
There are two ways to split
the atom.
Fission- splitting the
nucleus into two smaller
fragments with a neutron
Fusion- bringing two
smaller atoms together to
form one larger one
STEPS FOR A GUN-TRIGGERED
NUCLEAR BOMB
1. The explosives fire and
propel the bullet down the
barrel.
 2. The bullet strikes the
sphere and generator,
initiation the fission
reaction
 3. The fission reaction
begins
 4. The bomb explodes

Plutonium
Tritium
Deuterium
Lithium
Uranium-235 and 238
These are all radioactive elements inside the

LITTLE MAN WAS A GUN TRIGGERED
TYPE OF NUCLEAR BOMB.
FAT MAN WAS AN ATOMIC
BOMB
The United States
spends over $75 million
every day preparing for
Nuclear War.
 There are still over
23,000 nuclear weapons
world wide.
 Since 1942, the United
States has spent $4
Trillion on the
development,
construction &
maintenance of its
nuclear arsenal.


There have been
over 2,044 nuclear
explosions
worldwide raising
background
radiation levels and
contaminating land
and water.

the warhead of a missile designed to deliver
an atomic bomb


Atomic bombs rely on fission, or rapid
splitting of an atom’s nucleus.
Nuclear Bombs are caused by fusion, or
combining of two atoms

A nuclear Weapon has not been used on
another country since the United States
dropped 2 on Japan in the 1940’s


9 countries have the power of Nuclear
weapons but none have used them
If a nuclear war were to take place now, it
would easily destroy the human population
because of the radiation
