Antarctica
Alpha Research Project
Hello every one! Thank you for coming to learn
about Antarctica. In case you were wondering
Queen Elsa did NOT create Antarctica, But
anyways it is time to learn about the arctic
threats!
Why is
Antarctica is
disappearing,
You ask? Well, It is
disappearing
because of
different reasons.
If we keep this
behavior up all the
heat we use will
cause global
warming and
Antarctica will
disappear in the
next 200 years!
Information from:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk
Floating ice shelves in
Antarctica will disappear within
the next 200 years as a result
of global warming, experts have
said.
If we continue to burn fossil
fuels at the current rate, almost
all ice shelves in the Antarctic
Peninsula will be under threat of
collapse in the next 200 years
What can we do
to save it?
I’ll tell you what
we can do to save
it! We can stop
leaving the oven
on to long while
making
HotPockets, and
start campaigns to
save Antarctica!
If we all stop igniting fossil fuels
so much we can save Antarctica
Establish climate change as the
overarching theme of the 2015–
2017 Arctic Council agenda
Arctic Fox
By: Emily
SURVIVAL
The Arctic Fox has white fur. The fur helps the fox to
camouflage with the snow, and hide from predators.
HUNTING
The Arctic fox was impacted tremendously by the fur
trade because of its extremely high quality pelt. It's still
hunted now for its fur, particularly by native populations
who live in close proximity to them. The fur trade has
decreased dramatically and the Arctic fox is not as
vulnerable to overexploitation as it once was.
CLIMATE CHANGE
The ice in Antarctica melts due to global warming. If the
ice melts the foxes won’t have anywhere to go.
Glossary
Overexploitation
also called over harvesting, refers to harvesting a
renewable resource to the point of disappearing.
Proximity
nearness in space, time, or relationship
Camouflage
