SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
This project is funded by the European Union
A project implemented by the HTSPE consortium
OBJECTIVES
•
•
•
To contribute to the shift towards a
resource-efficient,
low-carbon
and
climate resilient economy, to the
protection and improvement of the
quality of the environment and to halting
and reversing biodiversity loss;
To
improve
the
development,
implementation and enforcement of
Union environmental and climate policy
and legislation, and to catalyse and
promote integration and mainstreaming
of environmental and climate objectives

ACTIVITIES
• Example: NATURA 2000 in Slovenia
•
Slovenia has developed a national Management Plan for Natura 2000. It
is considering the idea of an IP, building on a previous LIFE project:
– A previous LIFE project led to a transnational co-operation between different
actors and different sectors
– Slovenia is developing legislation to ensure that IP are feasible
•
Benefits:
– Combining activities and different funding sources is considered to provide a real
opportunity to bring together economic, social and environmental objectives
leading to enhanced results.
•
Practicalities:
– One single regulation and one set of guidelines would be required to cover
administrative and reporting aspects across all funding instruments.
– To ensure IP are feasible it is essential that there is a strong project design
phase with rigorous and detailed preparation which agree priorities across
funding instruments.

possibility of delegating to a large
extent the selection and monitoring
tasks to the European Agency for
Competitiveness and Innovation, while
keeping the governance of the LIFE
Programme within the Commission.
Grants are subject to annual
programming. The work programme
fixes the broad outlines of the grants
