Wildlife Activities at Global Level
FAO mostly conducts ‘normative work’:
 legislative/policy support;
 capacity development; and
 technical guidance.
The aim is to conserve wildlife together with their habitats and to improve
the livelihoods of rural communities. Typical topics of wildlife-related work
by FAO include:
• ecotourism;
• human-wildlife conflict;
• wildlife policies and legislation;
• illegal harvesting and trade for food and non-food purposes;
• impacts of climate change on wildlife and protected areas.
FAO is member of the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife
Management (CPW).
