Answering user needs
Approach & overview of the products
Products’development stage
Approach for Savoie and Tunisia

Strong interaction between CET and SET (regular meetings to discuss
background and format of the products)

Mobilisation of intermediaries, data providers essentially (like
observatory of climate change in Savoie)

Less interaction with institutional and operational tourism stakeholders

Large survey of tourists in Tunisia (for TCI product)
Main difficulties encountered (SET point of view) that slowed down
the interaction in the development stage
-Difficulties to access and then to reformat the products already available
- Need of very detailed, translated and adapted products that requires a substantial
reformatting
-Need to strengthen and better justify the product selection for development

Workshops stage
A participatory approach

3 workshops were organized : Tunisia and Savoie (May), Croatia (June)

The Cyprus workshop will be held in September

Few attendance (5-10 tourism stakeholders per workshop)

Typology of stakeholders involved :

Savoie : Mountain resort, Federation of outdoor activities, camping

Tunisia : Travel agencies, hotel manager

Croatia :National park, county tourism association, national agency
Still remains difficult to mobilize tourism stakeholders
WS structure : a participatory approach

Main Results
Successfull products
Present climate products
Ex: TCI - Tunisia
Present climate products
Ex: Tunisia Indicators of bathing season
Future products
Ex: Evolution of temperatures in high mountain areas
Model ensemble mean (black line) for the T°C maximum. The envelop represents
the minimum and maximum changes obtained by the different simulations.
Relevance of the products
 Good
representation (backgound, format), easy to
understand

A better understanding of tourism and climate
change (spatial and timescale)
 Better use
of the country's potential climate and
diversification of tourism activities (Tunisia)
 Good
…
tool to rise awareness (Savoie)
Other feedbacks
Limitation and perspectives

Need to diversify climate paramaters for successfull products


Need to diversify time scales according to stakeholders


Ex : Future Climate change in Tunisia + extremes events in Savoie
Need to correlate products to impact studies


Ex : Need to focus on more short term products for operational
management in Savoie (long term products are not so relevant) / Need to
develop Futur conditions for TCI
Need to improve the format of some products


Ex : Extend the SST forecast to temperature, precipitation, extremes
events
Ex : Temperature of moutain lakes in Savoie
Need to find the best way of diffusion + production

Ex : via local or national institution, newsletter, mobile application etc.
