What is the Farming Advice Service?
• Defra’s new Farming Advice Service (FAS) was launched on 3rd
January 2012.

• FAS replaces Natural England’s Cross Compliance programme,
offering a more holistic, streamlined advisory service for farmers.
• FAS will offer a ‘advice on a range of subjects which include:

• We aim to deliver face-to-face advice to advice to over 8500 individuals
annually
• This will be achieved through ~300 events being delivered annually

• Aim for over 90% ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ satisfaction rating
• Advice provided at meeting leads to positive changes in farm practices
(assessed by comprehensive monitoring and evaluation programme)
• 40% of events delivered through ‘Third Party’ organisations
• Includes stakeholders, discussion groups, other advice providers,
• Offers excellent value for money in delivery
• Adds value to other advice activity by offering access to a wide range
of skills through our consortium of advisers.
