What’s climate change all about, and what’s my role?
EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR RESPONSES: • Best responses are sincere, accurate,
creative and communicate a clear message about climate change. • Your response or presentation must
be in your own words, using a conversational style. • You already know or will soon see that climate
change is a very broad, deep and complex issue. • Pick a framework that moves you most and select
your focus carefully. • You must both explain some aspect of climate change AND articulate your
role. • Responses must reveal some basic understanding of the science of global climate change. •
Articulate your role at this point in time, listing three appropriate and realistic steps or behaviors. • This
is a relatively short assignment so narrow your focus. • Longer presentations can be worked on towards
Phase II and Phase III.
Responses may focus on as few as one of the following aspects of climate change: global
warming, adaptation and/or mitigation strategies, carbon pollution, ocean acidity, sea level
rise, carbon sequestration, ice melts, biodiversity, health, food, water, energy, economic
opportunity, and so on.
CLEO Project Phase I
What’s climate change all about, and what’s my role?

Written responses: Submit a maximum 3 pages, minimum I inch margin,11-point
font; list top 3 sources only; include at least one impactful diagram, graph or
chart of your choosing or making. Submit hard copy, pdf or word document only.
Taped/live responses: Presentations may not exceed 3 minutes. Presenters must
identify, orally or visually, top 3 sources only; may include a visual aid; no
elaborate props – only what you can hold. Submit via you tube, DVD or jump
drive; or via scheduled presentation.
Longer presentations can be part of Phases II and III

Communication Frustrations
Communication is part science, part art.
There’s a down side to
“getting too caught up in your head,”
if you’re trying to communicate with the
non-cerebral public.
