Our mission is to accelerate the transition to
a low carbon economy by helping businesses
and the public sector reduce their carbon
emissions and develop commercial low
carbon technologies

according to business needs, eg feasibility studies,

•We have 100 staff across the UK and our budget for
2006/7 is £100m

 Requires significant time input by a HE project leader (2

 Aims are to
– Establish current carbon footprint
– Change knowledge and attitude about energy and
carbon issues across the organisation
– Get different departments working together to
achieve change
– Create a costed and prioritised Strategic Action Plan
for the way forward.

2050 (IPCC target is -60% by 2050 in order to
stabilise CO2 in the atmosphere)
 New buildings are a “not to be missed”

 Recent experience shows that public sector
buildings can reduce carbon emissions by up
to 2/3 by careful attention especially at design
stage for minimal increased cost.

Salix – help to finance energy efficiency

time (3 yrs) as savings are collected

lowest payback portfolio of energy efficiency
