What is climate change?
Climate change is a natural
phenomenon and normally takes
place over several centuries.
However, the term “climate
change” is now being used to
refer to the current climate. This
is because recent evidence
shows that the global climate
seems to be changing more
rapidly than usual, as a result of
human behaviour.
What examples of human behaviour, linked to
climate change, are depicted in this image?

Your impact on the climate
The Earth is kept warm by the atmosphere, a blanket of gases
that act like the glass of a greenhouse.
Having some greenhouse gases
benefits the planet. But humans keep
adding to the greenhouse gases.
A carbon footprint measures the
impact human activities have on the
environment in terms of the amount
of greenhouse gas produced.
Carbon footprint calculators ask what you eat,
how you travel and what your home is like to
estimate the amount of carbon dioxide you create.
