Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is
phosphorylated to FDG-6-PO4 by
hexokinase. Since the activity of
Fluorothymidine (FLT) is
phosphorylated by thymidine
glucose-6-phosphatase is
kinase to FLT-6-PO4 and
negligible, FDG-6-phosphate is
accumulates in tumor cells.
