looking glass to help
us see reality!
PSALMS 19:14

Let the words of my mouth and the
meditation of my heart Be acceptable in
Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my
Redeemer.

The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;

1:19-27 Genuine faith is illustrated by
behavior!

Do I read the Bible or does the Bible read


The reflection of the heart. 1:19-21

THE REFLECTION OF THE
HEART. 1:19-21
The passage begins with an imperative. “this
you know”
 The command is based on the relationship
of the family. “beloved brethren”
 The command calls us to a preparation.
(1) open our ears (2) calm our tempers
(3) control our tongue (4) clean our hearts


The command demands, we receive the
Word in humility.
THE REFLECTION OF THE WORD.
1:22-25
The word “soul” implies the entirety of a person.
1. The word is implanted to save one’s soul. 1:21
2. The word is implanted to sever one’s soul from
sin. Hebrews 4:12
3. The word is implanted for the obedience of one’s
soul 1:22
4. The word is implanted the reflection of one’s soul
1:23
5. The word is implanted for the blessing of one’s
soul. 1:25

Remember we are an unfinished work in God’s
hand.
The people of God should be concerned about the
things that concern God. Isaiah 1:17
Reality is God is our only hope. Only He can save
us.
