Childhood
-
He lived with his family in Uherský Brod.
-
His father was very important member of Bohemian Brethren
-
After the death of his parents he was brought up by his aunt in
Strážnice where he started his studies.
Studies
-
Since 1608 he studied the Latin school in Přerov.
-
In 1611 he went to the high school in Herborn.
Adulthood
-
In 1616 he was ordained as a preacher and after that he moved to
Fulnek.
-
He was the rector of the school in Fulnek and a preacher of Bohemian
Brethren.
-
He was a writter, teacher and scientist.
-
His wife and his two children died of the plague.
Patriot
-
After the events related to the Battle on White Mount he left Fulnek
and he had to hide.
-
He didn‘t want to convert to Catholicism so he had to leave his native
land and live in exile.
-
After that he lived in Lešno (Poland), he travelled a lot.
Teacher
-
He wrote about teaching children in the way they understand and
have fun at the some time.
-
School by play (He used pictures and models)

He believed that children should learn in the mother tongue.
-
And also he wrote that children should not be physically punished
(the beating).
