The Structural Heart Disease Program
your partners for advanced interventional cardiology
Structural Heart Disease is a new branch of cardiology involving
catheter based treatment of heart conditions that used to be treatable
only with open heart surgery. Yet, even with advancements in today’s
technology, not all patients with the same condition are good
candidates for the same procedure. The University of Miami Miller
School of Medicine and UHealth – University of Miami Health System
provide an array of advanced services to the South Florida community
and beyond. Our multidisciplinary Structural Heart Disease program is
a resource to you and your patients dealing with challenging cardiac
issues.

University of Miami Hospital has 5 dedicated suites for interventional
cardiology, including a unique suite designed to combine minimallyinvasive percutaneous cardiovascular interventions with cardiovascular
surgical procedures. Our cardiac imaging program includes cardiac
CT, Cardiac MR, 3D Transthoracic and Transesophageal
echocardiography, and it is fully integrated with our advanced
structural heart disease program.

Yet our team is only half of the equation. We are only at our best with
the partnership of the skilled and compassionate physicians who refer
their patients to us for interventional care.

CATH LAB EXPERTS
Catheter-based treatment
of structural heart disease
is rapidly evolving.
As technology advances,
and new treatment options
become available, one
thing remains the same:
the need for
interventionalists, cardiac
surgeons, general
cardiologists and cardiac
imaging specialists to
collaborate closely on the
care of each patient.
The University of Miami
Cardiovascular Program
offers one of the nation’s
most advanced programs
for the diagnosis and
percutaneous treatment of
a full spectrum of structural
heart conditions.
Unique procedures we
offer are available at few
other centers in the nation,
and offer opportunities for
patients with advanced or
complex disease to be
treated.
