
Just 5 horizontal lines = a staff
Clefs
Treble clef = higher pitches
Bass clef = lower pitches
Bar Lines

Bar lines are used to break down music into smaller,
evenly spaced sections.
Whole Notes

I’m called a whole note because I take up a
WHOLE BAR!
Note Names

I create a different note name depending on where
I land on the staff…
Musical Alphabet


In music, there are ONLY 7 letters you need to know:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Then you go back to the beginning!
ABCDEFG - ABCDEFG – ABCDEFG
Spaces or Lines


A note is either between lines, which is called a
SPACE note
Or a note is sitting in the middle of a line, which
called a LINE note
Method #1
ABCDEFG-ABCDEFG

Memorize just 1 note name and then go up the
musical alphabet from there, being certain to
alternate letter names every line and space.

Acronyms

Memorize your clef’s spaced and lined notes based
on a saying…
