Enterprise Island
You have just saved enough money to start your
own Lobster business, and will need to decide
where to place your pots each night.
‘Outer Pots’ are placed further out at sea, and
usually catch the more lobsters, but in bad
weather can be washed away and lost at sea.
‘Inner Pots’ usually catch less but are safer in
bad weather.
Facts and Rules
1.You begin with 6 pots.
2.You can buy more/replacement pots for £20
3.You will earn £20 for each large catch, and
£10 for each small catch.
4.You must record where you are going to place
your pots on the record sheet, without knowing
about the weather situation.

Blunders
With 50% off the sofa, 25% of the
carpet and 35% off that little table, I’ve
just saved 110%.
In the days of steam it took one hour 30 mins
to get from Liverpool Street to Stanstead.
That has now been cut to 93 minutes.
More than half English 11-year olds have below
average reading skills.
Maths is magic
Take the number of brothers you have, and
multiply by 2.
Add 5 to the result.
Multiply by 5.
Now add the number of sisters you have.
Multiply the result by 10.
Finally add the number of pets you have.
What number do you have?
Think of ways in which you may use
these ideas to help develop numeracy
skills
• As a subject teacher
• As a form tutor.
