NOTE: Your screen may look different; however, find the Start button (lower
left corner); then All Programs; ending with left click on Microsoft Office
PowerPoint. This tutorial assumes the use of Office 2003; earlier versions
of PowerPoint may be different from the slides shown.

NOTE: If you have New Presentation instead of Getting Started, go to the
next slide; otherwise,

You screen should look like this. If you do not have
Apply Slide Layout, left click, find Slide Layout
and select
1 Use the scroll bar and go
down to Other Layouts.

then left click on Insert New Slide

You will setup the background and font attributes for
your slide show. I have used black background with
yellow text for this demonstration.
You can also get to this screen by left click on View
and then select Master, then Slide Master

You can see the text slide
and the title slide –
left click on the title slide

More Colors
Select the color for
the text
If you need to select colors for the
Date, Footer or Numbers Areas
you would select them and then
complete the previous steps

option for black

Apply to All
This is the result of setting the background.
Note that the text slide appears to have not text
available.
Left click, in the left pane on the slide numbered 1
Note the outlines of the title and text boxes
and the Date, Footer, and Number areas
1 You will change the color of text in
all available boxes and areas by left
clicking on the title box outline, press
and hold the Shift down while left
clicking on all other outlines.

the title slide

You have now set all the necessary settings
for the presentation.
Left click on the Close Master View
You have returned to the slide edit area. To
complete the setup process we will go to the Slide
Sorter View.
Left click on the Slide Sorter Icon
This is the Slide Sorter View. Left
click on slide 1 – note the blue
highlight around the slide.
Copy the side (Ctrl+c or Edit Copy)
Left Click to the left of slide 1.
Note the cursor
1 Now paste the copied slide
– (Ctrl + v or Edit Paste).
This is the slide that you will
set the background to match
the screen color for your
presentation.
2 Now double left click on
slide 2
You are now in the slide edit mode and ready to
create the presentation.
If this title slide is not showing left click in the left
column on the title slide – usually slide number 1.
Left click on the “. . . add title” text and enter the
tile of your presentation.
Left click on slide 3. Copy of the
slide -- (Ctrl+c or Edit Copy)
and
copy – (Ctrl + v or Edit Paste). See
the next slide
2 Left click here and enter your title and text
slide.
1 Here is the slide you just pasted into the
presentation
Repeat the last three steps to add
new slides to your presentation.
When you complete the
presentation return to the slide sorter
view, select slide 1, copy it, and
paste it at the end of your
presentation.
