Odds and Evens
In this lesson you will learn
about odd and even numbers
Whole numbers (numbers that
we count) can also be called
odd or even numbers.
This includes numbers like 1,
2, 3, 4… 136… 5265… and
many, many more…
When choosing two equal teams; it
is best to have an even number of
participants.
Lets see;
Can it be
done?
Team A
Do you
know why?
There are 10 ants who need to
put into two equal teams.
Team B
Can you see
why 10 is an
even number?
Five more ants come along.
How many ants are there now?
10 + 5 = 15 so we now have 15 ants.
What will happen
when we put them into 2 teams?
Team A
Team B
I’m the odd
one out!
Can you see
why 15 is an
odd number?
Even Numbers
Even numbers end in a
0, 2, 4, 6 or 8
All the numbers in the 2 times table
are even.
Odd Numbers
Odd numbers end in a
1, 3, 5, 7 or 9
If a number is not in the 2 times
table then it is odd.

2) If it ends in a 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 then the
number is even
3) If it ends in a 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 then the
number is odd
