The Land Between Two Rivers

Tigris and Euphrates
Rivers.
 Called the “Fertile
Crescent” for rich
farmland.
 The first settlers were
farmers and fisherman.

 Flooding provided silt, a
rich mixture of rock and
soil.
 Silt made the nearby land
possible to farm.
 Drought or times without
rain made farming difficult.
 Irregular flooding and
droughts caused
