Present tense
• The present tense is used to tell or express an
action in present time. Can be actions that
are habitual or general.
Examples
• At work she talks on the phone.
• He practices his writing in school.
• I go to school.
• You write Cornell notes.
Command tense
• The command tense is used to tell someone
what to do. There are formal or informal
commands. In Spanish it uses the third person
conjugation. Or just take off the R of most
verbs. There are 2 irregular verbs you have
learned. Poner and Hacer.
Examples
• Mow the lawn!
• Dry the dishes!
• Take out the garbage!
Present progressive
• The present progressive tense is used to tell
or express and action occurring right now. You
can identify the present progressive because
one of the verbs will end with “ing”.
• In Spanish you must use a conjugation of estar
and the ending “ando” or “iendo”
• Example
• Estoy lavando el coche.
• Él está comiendo la hamburguesa.

Charades with commands or present
progressive.
1. Get into groups of 8 then pairs.
2. One person needs to time. - Count down.
3. One person will act the phrase - then choose
the next person to act. All must act before
taking a second term.
4. Those not acting must guess what is being
done and write the sentence down in
Spanish within 1 minute.
How to get points.
• You have one minute to act the phrase and have others
guess the phrase.
• When the phrase is guessed, it must be written down
correctly in the time frame to get the point.
• If you are acting and the phrase is written correctly by
anyone in the group, you get a point.
• If people in the group write it correctly and have you
check it, they get a point.
• The phrase must be checked by that actor and must
be the same as on the paper.
• The actor may not say anything.
