Para Empezar: 5 de enero del 2016
Syllabus Updatescopy and bring back signed!
1) Spirals will be turned in every two weeks. You will only need ONE
stamp sheet since I will select 5 Do Now’s and at least 6 assignments
to check per two weeks. I may or may not tell you which assignments
I will select so you are still responsible for completing them ALL.
2)
If absent: STUDENT is responsible for checking both school fusion
and asking the teacher for any missed work.
3) If turning in work while absent, especially PROJECTS, make sure
you HAND deliver to the teacher. Teacher is not responsible for work
left in the homework bin, in the crates, or around the room.

4) Vocabulary Quiz retakes: Students will be allowed only
ONE retake of the vocabulary quizzes within a one week
period after the original issued quiz.
5) Students are to remain in assigned seats UNTIL the bell
rings. For safety reasons DO NOT stand by the door!
Failure to comply may cost you participation points in your
stamp sheet.
6) All weekly DO Now’s must be completed on one page.
It’s easier to check them off.

Practice Prepositions
With a partner practice prepositions by:
1) Have your partner tell you in a complete statement the preposition
in each letter, take turns! Then write them down!
Example A.) El perro está encima de la silla.
A)Write down 8 phrases using a preposition and a
method of transportation in each phrase.
B) 4 phrases should be true: 4 should be false.
C) You will read the phrases to a partner and have
them tell you if it’s true or false.
Ejemplo:

Write 5 sentences with 5 prepositions to describe the
following image.

*Tú commands are the singular form of informal commands.
To tell a friend, family member, classmate, child, or pet to do
something us the affirmative tú commands.
*Negative tú commands are used to tell a friend, family
member, classmate, child, or pet NOT to do something.

Cultura en contexto…
In Spanish speaking countries the Christmas
festivities are not done yet. Today the day of the
Three Wise Men or “Día de los Reyes Magos” is
being celebrated.
The tradition
Before Jan. 6, children write letters to the three wise men telling
them why they deserve a present. In some areas children will attach
their letter to a balloon and then let it go so that their letter can get
to the wise men.

1. Put the date(in Spanish form) in the right hand corner.
2. Write the salutation: Queridos Reyes Magos
3. Paragraph 1: Tell them your name, age, birthday, where you are from
and were you live.
4. Paragraph2: Describe yourself- 3 adjectives for personality and 3
physical descriptions.
5. Paragraph3: Tell them how you have been good. Tell them 5 good
things you have done and 3 bad things you have not done. “Yo me
he portado bien. Ayudo a …”
6. Paragraph 4: Tell them what you want “ Yo quiero…” (3 things with
reasons)
7. End the letter with: Cariñosamente(with love) ________

Complete the following statements with the proper preposition.
Remembering the present progressive
-The present progressive is used to describe events that
are happening at this very moment. Ongoing actions!
How is it formed?
Practice:
Using the following two images
Image 1: Work with a partner. Have your partner tell you 5 things that
are going on in a complete phrase as you write them down. Then switch.
Image 2: Write down the present progressive verbs associated with each
image. The pictures are not in order.
More practice
You will get two images.
With a partner do the following1. Look at your images and decide what is happening, identity 4
present progressive verbs and 4 prepositions for each image.
Write them down in your spiral. Do not let your partner look
at them.
2. Once both you and your partner are done with #1. Have your
partner try to guess the present progressive verbs and
prepositions you wrote down. For each one he/she gets correct
give him/her a happy face in their spiral 

A) Copy the song and circle the verbs in the present
progressive form. Translate each Verb to English.
B) With a partner try to see if you can interpret the meaning
of the lyrics- Don’t translate verbatim try to find the gist of
the meaning per stanza.

You will listen to the song twice then you will sing the song
along the audio! 

1) Students will create a poster about safe driving practices: There is
white printer paper on the Top file cabinet.
2) In their poster students will write 10 rules they think all good
drivers need to be aware of when driving. Use the present
progressive.
