Stem-changing verbs: e ie
• Stem-changing verbs have regular –ar, -er, and –ir
endings in the present tense.
• For e-ie stem-changing verbs, the e of the stem
changes to ie in all forms except nosotros/as
vosotros/as form.
• In stem-changing verbs is the next-to last syllable
that changes.

Direct Object Pronouns
• D.O. receive the action of the verb in a sentence
• They answer the question whom? Or what? About
the verb.
• The D.O. can be a noun or a pronoun.
• Direct object pronouns can be used to replace
direct object nouns.

• The direct object pronoun is placed directly

• When there are two verbs beside each
other in a sentence, only conjugate
(change) the first verb and leave the
other one in the infinitive.
• I prefer to buy the shirt.
• Yo prefiero comprar la camisa.
• In this case, the direct object pronoun
can be placed before the conjugated
verb or be attached to the infinitive.
• I want to buy it. (The shirt)
