Verb of the day:
Llevar – to wear
On the top of the index card, write today’s date.
Then write today’s verb and draw a picture to help
you remember the meaning of the verb. On the back
side of the same index card, write the meaning of
the verb in English.
• Write a sentence in Spanish saying…..
“Mount students wear a uniform (el uniforme) to school.”

Spanish Club information
• Anyone can order a t-shirt, including
non-members. Cost is $12.
• T-shirt money is due to Sra. Stribling by
Tuesday, October 7th.
• If you want to be a member of Spanish Club…
the dues are $3 and a box of crayons.
First come, first serve. We will have a limited
number of members for each grade level.
QUIZ TIME:
Vocab. Quiz #4 : Ch. 6 Sect. 1, 4, 5, & added vocab.
Take out a sheet of paper and number from 1 to 10.
Don’t forget to write your heading!
Flip your paper over when you finish and then
SIT QUIETLY!
You can put your head down on your desk, draw a
picture, or write me a note while you wait for your
classmates to finish testing! 

Activities 1 & 2.
• Please place your homework on your desk now, so
that you can get a completion stamp.
• We will go over the correct answers together.

 Saber versus Conocer – meaning, conjugations, &
uses
• Identify and use indirect object pronouns
• Learn how to conjugate regular –AR/-ER/-IR verbs in
the past tense (preterite tense)
• Using demonstrative adjectives and pronouns
(this, that, these, those)
Saber versus Conocer
• In Spanish, there are 2 verbs that express the
idea "to know." These two verbs are Saber and
Conocer.
• The verb you choose depends upon the
context in which it is used.
• These verbs are not interchangeable.
Conjugations (present tense)
• Both verbs are irregular in the YO form!

The uses of Saber & Conocer:
SABER = to (not) know…..
- information/ data/ facts about something
- how to do something [Saber + verb infinitive]
CONOCER = to (not) know…..
- people (*Don’t forget to use the personal “A”)
- places
 Saber = to know a fact, to know data,
info. about something
Nosotros sabemos que Rodolfo y Luisa
son estudiantes.
¿Sabes los días de la
semana, tú?
Yo sé el número de teléfono de
Cristina.
 Saber + verb infinitive* = to know how
(to do something)
Yo sé esquiar.
¿Sabes cocinar, tú?
Los niños no saben
nadar.
NOTE: Conocer is never
followed by an infinitive.
 Saber is also used when we know
something from memory (by heart)
Abuela Marta sabe el Himno Nacional Mexicano.
¡Mexicanos, al grito
de guerra . . . !
 Conocer = to know a person; to be acquainted/
familiar with a person.
Notice the difference between saber and
conocer in the following sentences:
 Yo sé quién es Plácido Domingo, pero no
conozco al Señor Domingo personalmente.
I know who Plácido Domingo is, but I don’t know him
personally.
 Nosotros sabemos dónde está
Tegucigalpa, pero no conocemos la ciudad.
We know where Tegucigalpa is, but we aren’t familiar
with the city personally (we haven’t ever been there).
