Action Verbs
Students will:

Identify action verbs
The main word in the predicate is the verb.
 Most verbs are action verbs.
 An action verb shows what the subject
does or did.
 Example:

› The ball flew over the plate.
› Jill pitches the ball.
› Roberto swings the bat.
› Roberto ran to first base.
People admire Mildred Ella “Babe”
Didrikson as an all round athlete.
 At sixteen she joined an excellent
women’s basketball team.
 She scored a hundred points in one
game!
 During that same period, she won
medals as a swimmer.


She also set records as a figure skater.

Didrikson entered many track and field
events.

In the 1932 Olympics, she captured three
medals.

Sports reporters named her the greatest
woman athlete.





