Indirect object pronouns
Objectives:
1) To be able to identify indirect objects and their
corresponding pronouns.
2) To be able to use indirect object pronouns correctly in
context.
3) To know the difference between direct and indirect
objects and pronouns.
Los pronombres de complentos indirectos
• Direct Objects identify what noun is directly
receiving the action of the verb.
(Answers the question
“Who or What receives the action of the verb?)
• Indirect Objects identify who receives the direct
object.
(Answers the question “To or for whom?”)
NOTE: In Spanish…
To whom = “A _______”
For whom = “Para ______”

–Dar (give) (Yo doy)
–Enviar (send)
–Mostrar (show) (oue)
–Pedir (ask for) (ei)
–Comprar (buy)
–Decir (tell) (ei) (Yo digo)
Object pronoun placement
• Indirect and Direct object pronouns have the
same placement rules.
– A) Before a conjugated verb.
• Yo le doy el boleto.
– B) Attached to an INFINITIVE
• Yo voy a darle el boleto.
NOTES:
– Attachment to the infinitive is OPTIONAL.
– “No” always goes before the pronoun to make the
sentence negative
• Yo no le doy el boleto.
Práctica: Traduce las frases en inglés a español.
