Understanding Verb Tense in
English
Verbs have 5 qualities:
1. person
2. number
3. tense
4. mood
5. voice
You do not need to worry about
what mood or voice means. You
only need to know that verbs
have mood and voice.
You already know person and number
person = 1st, 2nd, 3rd
number = singular or plural
(can you draw a picture of this chart?)
That leaves TENSE
TENSE shows WHEN a verb
happens.
Can you match the tense name to the verb form? Copy down the verb form and
the name of the tense. We will check your work in class
