Mini Lesson
• Editing is the last step of the writing
process when writers correct
mechanical errors.
• Edit for tense:
Present tense: I walk, you walk, he
walks
Past tense: I walked, he walked, etc.
• A common mistake is to shift tenses
for no reason.
• Use the editing checklist to identify
other punctuation and grammatical
errors.

2. Highlight or underline verbs.
3. Check that the tense is correct

Final Memoir.
