Vivid Words
An adjective is a word that
describes a person, place, or
thing. It tells how many, what
kind, or which one.
QUICK WRITE
Talk: Think of vivid words that describe how
people look and act when they are suddenly
surprised by someone’s ideas.
Write: Write a sentence about a surprised
character and use one or two of the vivid
words.
LISTENING AND SPEAKING
A good description tells how something
looks, feels, smells, tastes, or sounds.
A good speaker uses descriptive words
and phrases to paint a pictures in the mind
of the listener and speaks clearly at an
understandable pace (not too fast or slow).
