Remembering irregular verbs
Sometimes it can seem that there are a lot of verbs to remember. But when
you are using the preterite (past) tense, for most verbs you only need to
remember the 1st person (I did something) and the rest follows a pattern.
poner = to put
Ayer puse la revista en la televisión. = Yesterday I put the
newspaper on the TV.
Poner is an -er verb, and uses the same endings you have
learnt for other irregular verbs like tener and hacer. They are very
similar to the regular endings for -er verbs.

Irregular verbs
With irregular verbs, to form the preterite you need to know what the
first person preterite looks like. Then you can follow the
same pattern, adding the appropriate endings. Here
are the first person (I) preterite forms for some useful
irregular verbs.
• navegar – navegué
• jugar – jugué
• ver – vi
• leer - leí
