Grammar: Subject/Verb Agreement
• The following indefinite pronouns are singular:
anybody, anyone, anything, each, either, neither,
everybody, everyone, everything, neither, nobody, no
one, nothing, one, somebody, someone, something
• Example: One of the supergiant stars is Antares.
Write the sentences below. Choose the correct verb
form that agrees with the subject.
1. Everybody in Ruby’s family (enjoys, enjoys)
tomato soup.
2. Each of these songs (is, are) by the Beatles

• The following indefinite pronouns are plural: both,
few, many, several.
• These need to be paired with a plural verb.
• Example: Few of the guests are wearing formal
clothes.

• The indefinite pronouns all, any, more, most, none
and some may be singular or plural, depending on
their meaning in a sentence.
• Example: All of the snowflakes have melted.
• Example: All of the snow has melted.
