This word “CONJUGATION” will be very important
to your Latin studies….

So what is a conjugation?
What does “conjugate” mean?
“ To Conjugate”
“To Conjugate”
… basically means:
to Join Together….
“A Conjugation”
… is an entire SET of
verb forms that work
together as a whole.
From Latin, the word “Conjugation”
Means to “Yoke Together”
Like a
farmer’s
yoke
connects
two cows
or oxen
together…
This is what a “Conjugation” is…
ALL of a verb’s forms
JOINED
TOGETHER
Take a second …
AND BRAINSTORM…
How many
forms the verb
“TO BE” has….
Conjugation of: “TO BE”
being
is
are
will have been
were
had been
was
am
will be
is
going
to
be
has been
Remember, though, that
a Conjugation’s job is to.…
Join
all
those
forms
together…
So how do you
join them all
together???
Do you remember what
words ALWAYS connect
with verbs?

Hint: They always have to “Agree”
So… what words ALWAYS

REMEMBER: Subjects ALWAYS agree
with verbs
And they therefore always give verbs
their FORMS…

If we want to conjugate
“TO BE”.…
Then we have to
“join together”
all of its forms
And we can do so using all of its
possible SUBJECTS …
