• Follow ACTION verbs
– Receive action
• Direct Objects: Ask __(verb)___ who or
what?
– The answer is the direct object
– EX: The mechanic fixed my car.

• DO: car
Indirect Objects
• Ask __(verb) (direct object) to or for whom?
• Indirect Objects always are placed between verb
and direct object
– Judges presented the winner a silver trophy.

IO: winner
– You don’t always have an indirect object
• You can’t have an IO without a DO, but you can have a DO
without an IO
