Do not use –ed



Past tense verbs tell about something that
happened in the past.
The past could be yesterday, last year, last
week, an hour ago.
Usually we add “-ed” to the verb to show past
tense:
 Yesterday, I helped the teacher.
 Last week, I studied for my test.


there are some verbs that are past tense and
don’t follow the “-ed” rule.
They are special or irregular verbs.


Present tense: come
Past tense: came (not comed)
 On Tuesday, a visitor came to our classroom.


Present tense: say
Past tense: said
 Yesterday, we said we would walk to school.


Present tense: throw
Past tense: threw
 She threw the ball to the pitcher.
