Something to watch out
 Those with exactly the same wording are,
in most cases, NOT the correct answers.
e.g.
Experts in that country say that air
pollution has damaged most of their
forests.
 Wrong: The Govt. believes this will reduce illegal
practices and protect forest areas.

Correct: Willows have suffered the most, but maples
& other trees have also been harmed.

 Types of questions:
Wh-questions
• Example: What inspired you to write this book?
• Answers: Nouns / Adjectives
Yes/No questions
• Example: Did you argue with your business
partners?

 Same tense for verbs within the same
sentence
 Special case
Main clause verb: Simple past or past perfect
Verb in the subordinate clause: Simple past or
past perfect
• Exception: the subordinate clause as a general
truth:
• Columbus somehow knew that the world is round.

• To show same-time action, use the present tense

