USE:
1.
Punctual events in the past. We considered
the action finished.
“Yesterday, I watched a film on TV. I liked it quite
a lot.”
2.
Consecutive actions.
“Yesterday evening, I arrived home, I had a shower
and then, I had dinner”
USE:
1. Past action in progress. We consider the action in
the middle.
“Yesterday evening at 6.00, I was watching a film on
TV. It was very interesting.”
2. Parallel actions.
“Yesterday evening, I was having a shower while my
wife was having dinner”
