is an international institution that coordinates United
Nations environmental activities, assisting developing
countries in implementing environmentally sound
policies and practices.

The easiest way to cut back on greenhouse
gas emissions is simply to buy less.
Think green when making purchases. For
instance, if you are in the market for a new
car, buy one that will last the longest and
have the least impact on the environment.

Choosing food items that balance nutrition,
taste and ecological impact is no easy task.
Foodstuffs often bear some nutritional
information, but there is little to reveal how
far a head of lettuce, for example, has
traveled.

A potentially simpler and even bigger
impact can be made by doing more with
less. Citizens of many developed countries
are profligate wasters of energy, whether by
speeding in a gas-guzzling sport-utility
vehicle or leaving the lights on when not in
a room.

Prevent pollution by disposing of all your litter and waste.
Recycle all materials
Look after reserves of water by making sure you turn off the
faucet after use and by repairing leaks and drips..
Conserve energy by choosing Energy Star products. Turn
these off, as well as lights, when you don't need them to be
on. Use air conditioning and heating less often. Make sure
your home is insulated correctly to maintain a steady
temperature.
Reduce the amount of material you use. Print emails
occasionally or not at all rather than printing them every time.

Access to safe drinking water is essential to
human health. Each person on Earth
requires at least 20 to 50 liters of clean,
safe water a day for drinking, cooking and
simply keeping themselves clean.

See the light- Replace regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent
light bulbs to reduce the amount of energy that you use. Replacing
just one light bulb will save you $30.00 through the life span of the
bulb..
Quantity- Buying in bulk is actual good for the environment. Bulk
reduces the amount of packaging that you use as well as saves you
some money.
Online Payments- Pay your bills online to reduce the amount of
paper used in paying through the mail. This also gives you piece of
mind knowing that the bill is paid which can also reduce stress.
Online Books and Magazines- A lot of books and magazines can be
found online with online editions. Magazines and books use a lot of
paper every year and most are thrown away after they are finished.
You can also help by using books on tape or CD.
Save your water- Turning off the water while you shampoo and
conditioner your hair and while you brush your teeth can save a lot
of water. If you have an outside hose you should purchase a trigger
nozzle to eliminate wasted water.

If everybody would do even a few of these
tips than our environment would be a lot
less stressed. Keeping our environmental
resources around is imperative for future
generations. Changing your habits can be
hard but it is well worth it to preserve the
environment.
