CTE Initiatives
 Annual Perkins Grant used to strengthen and develop programs
 The purpose of Perkins is to provide individuals with the academic and technical
skills needed to succeed in a knowledge- and skills-based economy. Perkins
supports career and technical education that prepares its students both for
postsecondary education and the careers of their choice.
 New Hires
 Margaret Thornton– CTE Coordinator, (Grade 9-12 connections/MC/CCP)
 Lindy Dobbins – ADV & GRD Instructor, (Digital Media enhancements)
 Melanie Reddrick – ARC Program Chair/Instructor, (Refocus program)
 Kent Priddy – AHR Instructor, (enhance development of credentials prep)
CTE Initiatives
 Additional separate CTE “small perkins” grant funded by NCCCS office
 GOAL: Development Grade 9-14 Pathways for HS students

 National Science Foundation Mentorship Program participations
 Funding proposal to NSF for development of Anti-counterfeiting Technology
curriculum within GRA flexography program
 Welding (WLD)
 American Welding Society (AWS)certification testing to be provided under
contract to Bechtel candidates for pre-employment testing. 150-200 candidates
to be tested at Harper within one year for projects in Virginia and Louisiana.
