Muslims feel it is important
to go to Mecca.
1. Mecca is where Abraham built the Kaaba
(his “footsteps” can be seen)
2. The Qu’ran says Abraham was told by the
angel to proclaim that everyone should go
on pilgrimage to the Kaaba
3. The Black Stone that was given to Adam &
Eve and Abraham by angel, is there
4. Mecca is where Mohammad was born, lived
and preached, so it is special for Muslims

Why is Hajj called a “pillar” of Islam?
Just like Abraham did, Muslims
sacrifice a sheep to show their
gratefulness to God for all that
He gives them.
Part of the meat is eaten and
part given away the rest of it to
the poor.
