MUHAMMAD CHOSEN AS A PROPHET
• When Muhammad was 40
years old he was visited by
the Angel Gabriel and given
verses to recite (Ramadan).
• Over the years Muhammad
reported receiving many
more revelations from
Gabriel (the revelations are
found in the Qur’an).
• It is believed that at one time
Muhammad was taken up
into the heavens and taught
the gospel for 1 week.

Islam.
• In 624 A.D. Muhammad and his followers attack
Mecca to get revenge for his expulsion.
• Mecca surrenders in 630 A.D.
MECCA AND THE KAABA
• Muhammad destroys the
thousands of idols in the
Kaaba and turns it into a
holy place for his followers.
• Muhammad rededicated
the Kaaba to the worship
of one god, Allah.
• Muhammad dies in 632
A.D. but almost every Arab
tribe had already
converted to Islam.
