What is a line?
 “A straight collection of points extending in opposite
directions without end”
 IOW-A line goes on and on without end
What is a line segment?
 A line segment is a part of a line with an endpoint at
each end.
What is a ray?
 A ray begins at a point and continues in ONE direction
without end.
What does parallel mean?
 Lines and segments that go in the same direction and
stay the same distance apart are said to be “parallel”.
What does “intersect” mean?
 When lines or segments intersect, they simply cross
each other.
What does perpendicular mean?
 Intersecting lines or segments that form “square
corners” are said to be perpendicular.
What is an Angle?
 Angles are formed where lines or segments intersect or
where two or more rays or segments begin.
 An angle has a vertex and two sides.
Sides
Vertex
What is the vertex of an angle?
 The vertex of an angle is the point where the two sides
meet (the “corner”)
What is a right angle?
 An angle is named by how “open” it is.
 An angle like the corner of a square is called a right
angle.
What is an acute angle?
 Angles that are smaller than a right angles are called
acute angles.
What is an obtuse angle?
 Angles that are larger than a right angle are called
obtuse angle.
Now that your brain is
bombarded with new and
wonderful information,
let’s see how much you
remember!!!!
Show me the following using your
AngleLegs?
 Parallel
 Intersection
 Perpendicular
 An angle (point to the vertex)
 Right angle
 Obtuse angle
 Acute angle
Now I want to you to draw the
following?
 Draw a line
 Draw a line segment
 Draw a ray

 Now you get to show me ALL your knowledge on
the POST-Test that you are going to ACE!!!!!
 Let’s Begin!!!!
