Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak in the 15th century in the Punjab region of India.
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion which means that it believes in one god. Sikhs believe that god
(Waheguru) is in all living things.
Unlike other faiths, Sikhs believe that all religions worship the same god just in different ways.
The aim of Sikhism is to train yourself to recognise that same spark of god within yourself and within
all living things and to be at the service to others.
The lifestyle of a Sikh:
 A lot of Sikh community and activity is based around the local temple (Gurdwara). Here Sikhs can
learn about their faith and begin to serve others Sikhs and their wider community.

Buddhism (NOUN)
Definition: A widespread Asian philosophy (idea about how to live life.)
It was founded by Siddartha Gautama in north eastern India in the 5th century B.C.
 The aim of Buddhism is To reach a state of perfect peace and contentment (Enlightenment) by
following the Buddha’s teachings.
 The word ‘Buddha’ means ‘Enlightened One’.
 Buddhism is unique amongst the world’s major faiths because it is not interested in whether
there is a god or not. They are more interested in how to live the present life to the best of their
abilities.
The lifestyle of a Buddhist includes:
 Buddhists treat simplicity as way of life. They focus all their attention on the absolute essentials.
 Buddhists don’t pray because they don’t worship or communicate with an individual. However,
they do spend time meditating and reflecting on life. There is no obligation how many times a
day a Buddhist does this. You may do as many time as you want. The main thing is that quality
not quantity matters.
