How The Project Started
 A group of individuals in the tea industry who migrated to Canada wanted
to do a meaningful thing for the elders in Sri Lanka.
 The group saw how the elderly people in Canada enjoyed their lives in
different ways. They felt that they should build a house for innocent
elderly people in Sri Lanka. Initially the plan was to build something
small.
 While resting after the 10 km run in Vancouver, Canada one of the
members discussed the idea with others who are involved in charitable
projects and the current project turned out to be big and promising.
 Involving professional friends in Sri Lanka, led to the Happy Aged Elder’s
Home project.

How The Project Started…
 On August 20th 2013, the foundation stone was laid by the founding
group of individuals from both Canada and Sri Lanka.
 Funds were collected in both Canada and Sri Lanka to support the
project which is debt free.
 Designs and the technical support were provided by individuals in Sri
Lanka free of charge.
 Ajith in Canada and Tissa in Sri Lanka led the team and completed the
project and they were well supported by various officials as well as some
keen villagers.
 Furniture was donated by an individual whose family does a lot of
charitable work overseas and many other things were donated by various
donors in Canada and Sri Lanka.
