• The Buddha was born into a
wealthy family in India and
could have been the leader
of his people, but while
traveling the countryside he
was upset about the human
suffering he saw: sickness,
poverty and death. He left
his home to search for a
solution to human suffering.

Human desire causes this suffering.
By putting an end to desire, humans can end suffering.
Humans can end desire by following the Eightfold
Path.
Other Beliefs of Buddhism
• Reincarnation – Belief that people are reborn
after death
Karma – What goes around comes
around?
• Karma is the belief that if someone does bad
or good it comes back to them later in life.
Nirvana
• Nirvana is when one stops being reincarnated
and becomes one with the universe. They must
live an enlightened free of greed and hatred.
They must also have good karma.
