Using prepared slides
September 29th – Thursday, Microscope LAB
DRAW the TABLE in your LAB NOTEBOOK next to the Microscope
Humans/ Bacteria
Mammals
ie. Cat
ovary
Protists
AnimalsInsects
Plants
DIRECTIONS:
Working with up to 2 other students, select a work station.
Come select ONE SLIDE (one at a time)
1. Draw what you see and describe it. State anything that
might differentiate that cell as a human cell, plant cell,
animal type cell, unicellular organism.
2. Write the name of the slide under your drawing and in
the chart below and the POWER you are viewing it under,
i.e. 40x, 100x
3. Write the Name of your slide in the chart UNDER the
correct category. RETURN your slide to CORRECT TRAY.
How to draw your specimen
When you finish
1. TURN OFF THE Microscope.
2. Return the nosepiece to the lowest power to
be ready for the next class.
3. Cover the microscope.
4. Return to your seat, look over your Chapter 7
notes or read quietly in your textbook until
you are dismissed.

2. Which slides did you find most interesting and why?
3. What happens when you move your slide to the left? Right? Up?

4. Which objective did you find the best to use most of the time?
