Functions of the skin
1. Protects- Keeps water in and foreign particles out
2. Keeps you in touch with the outside world- nerves
let you feel things around you
3. Regulates body temperature- sweat glands make
sweat, which cools the body as it evaporates
4. Removes waste- Sweat removes chemical waste
Skin Injuries
1. Skin cancer- damage to genetic material
2. Acne- clogged hair follicles from oil and
bacteria
3. Cuts- blood clots stop the bleeding, then
bacteria fighting cells protect the area
