• Identify the issues which create a link
between poor housing and poor health
• A lack of food was only
one cause of poor
health around 1900
• Poor housing was a
major factor
• Doctors and scientists
did not know as much
about germs and
bacteria as we do now
• However, they were
aware that those living
in poor housing were
more likely to be ill
