Problem
Purpose
To ensure water treatment is made possible in
all livable areas in the world.
Giardia
Lamblia
Prevention and Treatment
Treatment of normal chlorine and ozone
used in mass water treatments are not
adequate to kill the cysts.
 Main Prevention is filtering (<1µm pore) or
boiling is recommended for purification of
drinking water in wilderness conditions.
 Solar disinfection which exposes the
parasite to the sun or Ultraviolet
Disinfection.

Hydration Technologies Inc.
Single 1.8 liter unit.
Used in disaster scenarios and Military uses.
Using Forward osmosis process, without pressure
preventing clogging.
Filters 1 liter in 4 hours
Uses a syrup base filtering system with 6 log
removal of all viruses including giardia and
cryptosporidium.
Returning taste is more like a sport drink from the
sugar and syrup in the filter, stated for better
hydration.
Cost: x-pack $64.00 resupply $19.62

Ultraviolet Disinfection




Ultraviolet light alters the DNA material in cells so that
bacteria, viruses, molds, algae and other
microorganisms can no longer reproduce. The
microorganisms are considered dead, and the risk of
disease from them is eliminated.
UV Disinfection has an effective kill rate of 99.99% of
most living microorganisms such as bacteria & viruses
including giardia lamblia and cryptosporidium.
Cost is only $800 for 1 unit of 12 GPM System.
Looking at one unit, will be able to serve 100 people
(over 100gpd/person) for 5 years. Costing 3 cents per
week per person.
