 Benign inversion can be congenital or
develop slowly
 Areola remains symmetrical
Nipple Discharge
Nipple discharge





The breast is a modified sweat gland
Nipple discharge is common
Relevant if spontaneous, uniduct or
bloodstained
Commonly produced with compression
Inspissated secretions in central duct are
normal
Common causes of breast lumps:
Cysts, Fibroadenomas

Erosion of nipple
extending to involve
areola

Crusting
Breast Examination
Breast Awareness


Report any changes to
your GP without delay

Attend routine breast
screening if you are aged
50 or over.
