Accuracy, Confidentiality,
Safety, and Linking
• Accuracy - Make sure spelling is correct
• Safety - Don’t publish photos of students
without signed Media Release form - usually
only publish first names
• Confidentiality – Don’t post student ID
numbers, Special Ed status, or other
confidential information
• Linking - We can’t link to sites with ads,
religious or political beliefs.
Best Practices: Page Length
• Page length should be kept close to a screen
and a half tall.
• Most users do not scroll down and will miss
information in the lower part of a long web
page.
• If more space is needed add items, subsections, or sidebars
• Turn off incomplete sections or items
Best practices for color and fonts
• Do not use non-standard fonts that are
difficult to read
• Do not use green or red colors because colorblind users may have difficulty reading the
text
• Do not underline text unless it is a link
• When copying from Word use “paste as plain
text” function button to strip out formatting
Green means section is on
Red mean section is off
•Click red/green button to turn on
or off sections and items
