Fact .1
East Timor is a poor country that doesn’t have a very
good school system. This means they hardly have any
resources and they have to learn in the Portuguese
language. Some of the schools don’t even have tables
or chairs. This is quite sad, because they are really
good kids.
Fact .2
In 1975 East Timor declared Independence, but later that year
East Timor was invaded by Indonesia and was declared
Indonesia’s 27th province the following year.
This is a map of East Timor and West Timor which is part of
Indonesia.
Indonesia is at the top and East Timor is at the bottom of the
picture.

In East Timor they have very different foods compared
to Australia.
They cook in different ways to us because they don’t
have the money to buy cooking utensils.
When we went to the Viqueque friendship group day,
we made a type of spring rolls that they eat.
At the Viqueque Friendship day we had to make spring rolls.
Inside the spring rolls were chicken, onion and parsley.
First we had to get a square piece of pastry and put meat on one of the
corners. Then we had to fold in different ways and then put egg white on
the last corner and fold the pastry over and we had a end result of a nice
spring roll.
