HTML-based newsletter using MS Word

Provides consistent look & feel for Academy
Program E-Newsletters
•
Interim solution only with limited functionality –
not to be used for massive email campaigns that
require sophisticated email list management &
tracking

Requirements

READ - Read the complete set of instructions on
http://www.cisco.com/edu/newsletter before starting
WEB PERSON - You must have access to a web person so
that your newsletter files can be posted live on a web server
LEAD TIME – Factor in at least one week of lead time for
your web person to convert your final content to HTML
AUDIENCE – This is for Cisco use only to distribute
internally or outbound to Academies.
THEATER SUPPORT – Each theater will need to provide
their own web resources for hosting and support, but initial
questions to get up and running can be directed to the US
Web team
*REVIEW - Newsletters should be previewed by Julie
Kaminkow ([email protected]) to ensure content and
target audience is in accordance with Academy marketing
and communication guidelines
*Review is mandatory in US Theater, and as necessary in other theaters

Process
1.
Content owner goes to http://www.cisco.com/edu/newsletter
to access Newsletter Instructional Template
2.
Saves page as HTML file on hard drive
3.
Opens file in MS Word to create own newsletter
4.
Saves file in MS Word format on hard drive once newsletter
is complete
5.
Sends newsletter file, along with image files, to Web person
with 1 WEEK OF LEAD TIME.
6.
Web person posts to a web server, using HTML code of
http://www.cisco.com/edu/newsletter site as a guide
7.
Web team provides content owner with URL
8.
After review and testing, content owner can go to URL of
their newsletter and email the web page to recipients

Important Details
•
Make sure that the “If you cannot view the
newsletter below, please click here” URL link at
the top of the template is changed to your specific
newsletter’s URL
•
The copyright clause in the last section of the
template is mandatory and should remain intact
•
The unsubscribe clause in the last section of the
template is mandatory and should remain intact –
please ensure you have the ability to delete
addresses from your mail list for newsletter
recipients who wish to unsubscribe
